I’ve made 225 contacts from over 15 countries – mostly using digital modes like FT-8. When you connect your radio to your computer, you can use what we call “weak signal” and reach in many cases, much further than you can with voice. Unfortunately there’s no single “plug and play” solution for most of us. There are very specific hardware and software needs and not a small amount of computing and radio knowledge needed to be successful.
Btw, even when you’ve BEEN successful, things change – is what just happened to me.
Still… I’m trying – and occasionally making food QSOs (contacts).
