Started learning about POTA – Parks On The Air. Basically, you try to “hunt” for someone doing “activations” in a park. Yes I just made you say, “so?” However, there’s a LOT more to it than that! Imagine you’re in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and you make a contact in the 40 meter band that’s doing activations (listening and communicating) on Long Island in New York State. Now imagine folks in parks all over the World trying to make HF contacts like this… It is pretty cool, trying to get as many contacts like that as you can. It’s not exactly “Contesting” but it IS kind of a competition of sorts.
Anyway… if you want a far better explanation than mine, go here: https://parksontheair.com. (Opens in a new tab or window.)
