FINALLY!!! (Windows 11, a Surface and Fully Functional Digital Modes!!!)

After MUCH trial and error – I have a Windows 11 Surface Go 3 with Winlink, JS8 Call and WSJT-X working!!! I can connect it to either. my Xiegu G90 or my (tr)uSDX!!! (Now if I could only get it to work with my handhelds for VHF/UHF… but for now I’m happy!!!

Now, what I went through to get to this point was CRAZY, so I’m going to put down the EXACT working steps. Before anything else though, I am using Ham Radio Deluxe instead of the more common FLRIG for rig control. Both work – this is my solution. (Besides… I can do a lot with HRD outside of Digital Modes.)

Equipment:

  • Microsoft Surface Go 3 (8GB RAM running Windows 11 Home)
  • Digirig w/ cables
  • Xiegu G90
  • Chameleon MPAS Lite

The biggest challenge (and the one that had me switching back and forth between Windows and Ubuntu Linux) was Winlink Express (Windows)/Pat Winlink (Linux). The stumbling block seemed to be the Settings which for Windows and Winlink just wouldn’t work and all the Internet research I did was conflicting and useless. I’ll publish my actual settings for the Xiegu G90 later.
